Step-by-Step Guide

This article is focusing on eyes. But you can check out the complete step-by guide to simple summer makeup here. It gives details on:

  1. Start with skincare

You can check out the how-to video demo here.

Lets dive in and create your Canada Day captivating eyes and stunning lips!

Eyeshadow

  • Start with a good eyeshadow primer. You don’t want your gorgeous eye-look creasing or looking muted and faded today!
  • Use a cream coloured matted shadow (or setting powder) over top of your eye primer. This will allow the shadows you put overtop to blend easily
  • Using the steps from the Modern Mature Eyeshadow technique
    • Start with a medium neutral shade on the outer edge and blend over your entire lid
    • Take a darker shade and draw a line from the outside corner of your eye up towards your brow. Blend it in, going about ⅓ to half way across your lid
    • Apply a tiny amount of concealer on the inside corner of your lid and gently bring it across the inner ⅓ of your lid
    • Place a light coloured shadow over top of the concealer. The concealer underneath really makes this shadow pop!
    • Lightly blend out any harsh edges, keeping the colours separate

Eyeliner

  • Finish with liner! A thin line and tightlining fills in your lash line without looking heavy.
  • You can line your lower lash line with the same eye shadow you used on your upper lid. This gives a soft focus to your lower lash line and nicely ties the top and bottom together.

Mascara

  • Grab your favorite black mascara and lash up! I love tubing mascaras.

The other part of this look that makes it special is your lips!

Red Lips – done with a casual flair!

  • Soften and smooth your lips with a gentle exfoliating scrub
  • Apply a thin layer of lip balm or butter to keep your lips soft and hydrated
  • Choose a red tinted lip balm or butter. Apply over your entire lip. If the colour is too dark, simply blend it down with your finger or a tissue.

Using a lip butter or lip gloss gives a classic red lip look more of a casual and subtle look. Its usually more comfortable to wear and way easier to apply

Finishing Touches

You can set your look with a setting powder or spray. If you like the dewy and glowy look from the cream bronzer and brush, be sure to avoid too much setting powder over your cheeks.

This look focuses on eyes and lips, so keep the rest of your makeup minimal to avoid overpowering the overall effect.

With this simple yet stunning Canada Day makeup look, you’ll be ready to celebrate in style. Enjoy the festivities and flaunt your Canadian beauty!
